VIEW: United vs West Ham. 3-0

Ok, this
might be a tad late and utterly pointless (sorry ya'll, but I spent last week getting my tan on in
Cyprus*)…better late than never though, right? Besides, I needed something for the files!

So, here’s my
long overdue look back at the West Ham game on the 28th
August…

Rooney’s
off the mark.
Ahh the wonders of hindsight and punctual writing that’s NOT two
weeks late! Straight after the match, knowing me and my overly enthusiastic
style, I would’ve hailed Rooney’s penalty – his first of the season and first
goal (including Internationals) for six months – as the trigger for him to
regain form, get the shitty summer out of his system and begin a run of  non-stop goalscoring form. Well, to give him
credit, with his goal against
Switzerland
on Tuesday it is two in two…but who in the world would have predicted the
plethora of shit he’s had to deal with in the last week? Somehow I don’t think
a penalty against lowly West Ham is enough to kick start his season after the
recent off-field public knock he’s just been hit with. Yes it has broken his
drought, but what we need now (as I mentioned in more detail in my previous
post) is for him to a) ignore it, be stronger on the pitch and not let it
affect his game, and b) simply sort it out. And he will cos he's immense.

Another Berbatov goal. This really could be his season. Another goal (currently our very early top goalscorer) and a fresher, more confident attitude about the man that has carried on
from the positive noises he was making through the summer regarding his
overwhelming sense of desire. Once Rooney’s on and off-field issues get sorted (which they undoubtedly will in time),
just imagine how much damage United could do with both Wazza and Berba in
unplayable form?

Nani rapidly getting
his confidence back.
The shocking and ridiculously arrogant penalty against
Fulham was rightly saved by Stockdale (strong similarities were drawn with Berbatov’s
crap approach to his pen against Everton in the 2009 FA Cup Semi Final). But he didn’t let the disappointment
of the result and brief media backlash get to him, as a week later he was found constantly threatening the West Ham defence until he got his goal just after half-time. Let’s pray
that the incredible form and skill he portrayed in pretty much every game he
was involved in the second half of last season tickles through and maintains from start to finish this season. Who would have
thought, after two full seasons of mediocrity and the inability to live up to the
Ronaldo exuded hype, that this boy really could be a great??

*By the way, if anyones wondering how it went, I now look like this:

...That's what I'm talking about mutha fuckaaa's!
