WO its been a while! Since the last time I blogged: United beat Stoke without playing well and without a sniff of controversy that apparently  solely contributed to our victory at West Brom . United have the greatest Wednesday night of all time without even playing, with defeats for Chelsea , Liverpool  and Spurs  as well as a draw between Arsenal and Citeh contributing. Something happened in the world of cricket. No idea what. Beckham says for the millionth time that he would never sign for a Premier League team if it wasn't United. Beckham signs for Tottenham. 'Arry's frilled. Beckham ends up only training with Tottenham . 'Arry's perplexed like. Scousers drop Woy. Scousers sign King Kenne, 20 years after deciding he wasn't good enough to manage them. United beat Scousers without playing well and with every sniff of controversy that apparently solely contributed to our victory at West Brom. Here's the reaction from the Stoke game: The Guardian, Daniel Ta...

What a difference a week makes. On Monday 18th October, United reveal that Rooney won’t be signing an extension to his contract that runs out in 18 months. On Tuesday 19th, at a press conference that should be focussed on our Champions League game the day after, Ferguson talks to the worlds press about Rooney wanting to leave the club. ‘Shocked’, ‘bemused’ and ‘disappointed’; his words represent the thoughts of every football fan across the country. On the 20th, he final says his piece. In a statement, Rooney hammered home his desire to leave, stating the clubs lack of ambition and that ‘[David Gill] did not give me any of the assurances I was seeking about the future squad’. On Friday 22nd October, Rooney signs a new five year deal, doubling his current contract to £180,000 a week, and keeping him at United until 2015. And two days later, we play Stoke at the Britannia Stadium. On the pitch there was absolutely no sign of Rooney or the fiasco that was the days preceding the game. ...

Yes, it’s over a week late. But can anyone blame me for delaying my reflection of such a disappointing season end? Although I stated so profusely in my review of the Sunderland game (which turned out to be more a dissection of our chances after the Liverpool/Chelsea match) that the race was over, it was still horribly hard to take. A confident, utterly dominant display at home to Stoke was meaningless. As Park snatched the fourth – knowing at that stage Chelsea had well and truly wrapped it up (thanks to the reaction of the pathetic away fans. ‘Who the F**K do you support!?’) – he simply trudged away, ironically disconsolate. The day was billed to be an exciting, tense culmination of a truly up-and-down season. A fitting ending therefore, the tabloids would have you believe, for one final, glorious twist. A late N’Zogbia screamer to level things at the Bridge perhaps? As it was however, the afternoon screamed conventionality and inevitability. A convincing result for United was comple...

Final Weekend Preview

Image
The final weekend is so nearly among us, and although many believe the race was dusted as the Scouser's inevitably failed to do us a favour, we will still nonetheless be delightfully boosted by the recovered Rooney and recovering Rio; who missed Sunday's victory over Sunderland. Either way, we're in it till the death, and if you're a fan of   online betting   you can be constantly be assured that Fergie's boys will give everything on the field to get the  victory. Rooney's return - having just recovered from an ankle injury and after missing the Tottenham game with some 'groin discomfort - will no doubt increase United's expectations at destroying Stoke. And Rio, who could also return for this Sunday’s final game after recovering from that groin injury that he suffered away to Blackburn, will be a welcomed addition, as we hope to end the campaign with a clean-sheet on top of the win. There is still the slimmest air of hope; as Martinez's pre...
