Well done to Citeh, for officially getting to 35 years without winning a thing. Incase you're wondering, we've won 29 ...

'Following the Trawler...' Interview Part V: United Rant

Image
My final interview in my five part series is with top United blog United Rant . Enjoy! 1. So, assuming you thought United would win the title comfortably before the Wolves defeat, had your feelings changed at all following that game? Not really - it's still squeaky bum time and despite all United's failings this season (there are many) we are fortunate that others have greater shortcomings. Points will be dropped by all. The success or failure of United this season will be in crucial away matches against other teams near the top - Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool. Plus of course, the games against City... 2. In general what have you made of United this season - a season where they have played consistently average football yet have stayed at the top of the league for months? I think this is United's worst side in five years, possibly longer but we have not been found out because the general standard of the Premier League is lower than in previous years. I'm pretty sure tha

5 things to take away from the Wigan victory... 1. Nani shits all over Bale and Nasri. Fact. 23 games, 9 goals and 14 assists, compared to 'undisputed players of the season' Nasri and Bale, with 21 games, 9 goals, 1 assist and 23 games, 7 goals and 1 assist respectively. Why is Nani still so unrated by many? And compared to the two darling's of North London barely even being mentioned as one of the top performers of the season? Absolutely ridiculous. 2. Rooney should be banned for life. Well that's what the Mail on Sunday would have you believe. A stupid elbow that probably did warrant a sending off, but is Rooney a sick disgusting villain who has gotten away with something that has NEVER happened to any other player before in the past? Hmm. Remember Michael Ball's stamp on Ronaldo's chest in 2007 that was pathetically applauded by many? Leg breaking tackles from Gerrard; dirty elbows from Masherano ...and Gerrard again! Even f**king Paul Merson boasts about

The question is....who's on the panel?

* warning : NOT a football blog* Yes that is correct. I sometimes like things that aren't United related. Not a lot of things, mind. But a few, such as music. And when I feel those things not linked to my divine football club are interesting enough to f**k up the system by writing about them in my 'football' blog, well I just go ahead and write about them, dun I?? So, like I said, I like music. In particular hip-hop and it's eclectic family of sub-genres - including the hit-and-miss Grime. And after hearing something the other day that rocked me somewhat, I felt compelled to give it's subject matter a privileged slot in my blog. It may have completely passed a lot of people by, but this week MTV Base dropped their Best of the Best UK MC's for 2010, compiled by a well respected panel of industry experts, including  Logan Sama (Kiss 100),  Joseph ‘JP’ Patterson (MTV)  and Charlie Sloth (BBC 1Xtra). Well, to say the list was a controversial one is to say that Wazz

'Following the Trawler...' Interview Part IV: Stretford-End.com

Image
My fourth interview in my five part series is with the awesome United blog Stretford-End.com ... 1. So, assuming you thought United would win the title comfortably before the Wolves defeat, have your feelings changed at all following that defeat? It's important to point out that it's dangerous to assume anything until the whistle goes and mathematically a team is crowned champions. What's true is that United are in the best position - better to lead the pack than chase! As Fergie's said for some time, every team including United will drop points. The Wolves defeat was disappointing but other results could have been worse that weekend. It was Fletcher who said before the Wolves game that he wouldn't care if we lost to Wolves and beat City rather than drawing both - it's the points that matter...less so the number in the 'L' column. Very simply, we're still top and still in the best position - but it could only take two games for that to change. It'

'Following the Trawler...' Interview Part III: ManUtd24

Interview no.3, ahead of today's away game against Wigan, is with ManUtd24 ... 1. So, assuming you thought United would win the title comfortably before the Wolves defeat, have your feelings changed at all following that result? No, not really. A title winning team are expected to lose a couple; and I, personally, didn't understand the knee-jerk reaction that accompanied our faltering after the Wolves game. But I won't take anything for granted. Arsenal are still a threat - although Newcastle and Joey Barton almost certainly wouldn't concur! Chelsea are out of it, even Ancelotti accepts it while Manchester City need things to happen elsewhere if they are to really push United and Arsenal until May. 2. In general what have you made of United this season - a season where they have played consistently average football yet have stayed at the top of the league for months? I think we've done okay. There are many similarities to have had with last season; collectively, we

VIEW: United vs Marseille (a). 0-0

After a bore draw in France - where highlights included Chris Smalling playing yet another blinder in the centre of our defence and an overly patriotic Marseille crowd booing Patrice Evra (their left-back has NO idea what he's got coming when he steps foot on the Old Trafford turf...) - I thought I'd leave the boring task of reliving the match to the professionals who have no excuse because they get paid for it... Manchester United fail to break through Marseille's baracade . Kevin McCarra, the Guardian Manchester United are so adept on the European stage that a goalless draw seemed of little note despite the fact that it puts the visitors well on the way to victory in this Champions League tie. Supporters are practised in foreseeing doom and it is true that an away goal is normally seen as a key ambition, but Marseille gave no indication of the incisiveness needed to score at Old Trafford. ...Sir Alex Ferguson was a little subdued afterwards. That reflected the standard a

'Following the Trawler...' Interview Part II: Rosso Bianchi

Interview number 2 is with hilarious United blog Rosso Bianchi ... 1. So, assuming you thought United would win the title comfortably before the Wolves defeat, have your feelings changed at all following that weekend? Not at all. No one really expected us to finish the entire season unbeaten, and a loss - a loss away from especially - was always on the cards sometime soon. It probably should have been against West Brom but we managed to delay it until the Wolves game, which is in itself an achievement. Assuming, of course we can get more wins we should go onto win it. Losing to Wolves, who are one of the favourites for relegation, they're maybe not the best of caliber, but out of all the teams to lose to it does do the least amount of harm to ourselves. 2. In general what have you made of United this season - a season where they have played consistently average football yet have stayed at the top of the league for months? Slightly above average, in so much as we can see we have pot
