Lindegaard Salutes Red's Team Spirit After Embarrassing Week At City

By Mail Online, Graeme Yorke

Anders Lindegaard believes Manchester United's impressive festive form is down to team spirit - unlike their neighbours across the city.

The Premier League leaders took 10 points from a possible 12 over Christmas and New Year to open up a seven-point gap between themselves and Manchester City.

And while Mario Balotelli was involved in a training ground bust-up with his manager Roberto Mancini, Lindegaard and his United team-mates were reaping the rewards of a positive atmosphere.

"The team spirit is as high as I can remember since I came here [in December 2010]," he told MUTV.

"We have done tremendously well over the Christmas period and picked up some great results, only dropping points against Swansea - which was a game that we should have won in my opinion."

  1. Nowhere does he elude to team spirit at City, that's just straw clutching at best from an M1 journeyman.

  2. Mailonline article my friend. Not mine.

  3. If you've chosen to publish it I'm assuming you agree with the article, as at no point do you state a different stance?

Either way, he makes no reference to City, it's just the Mail and then your opportunity to have a sly dig at City.
Like I said, water of a duck's back when it comes from any red, let alone a Cockney chancer.

  4. Lindegaard's comments have come in the same week as the incident at City. More than likely a coincidence, of course, however the story positions it as a United player highlighting the harmony and unity within his side compared to what appears to be the complete opposite at City. Simple as that.

Forgetting the irrelevant fact that I'm a London red, is there anything here that you disagree with? The story is this: United in great form, their players coming out and speaking about how wonderful life at United is etc etc...while City players/staff fight each other. So what's your issue here?

  5. Lindegard is asked about current form, he states 'we are playing well, we've picked up points, spirits are high.'
The Mail and yourself choose to link that to City, the story does indeed position itself thus, ask yourself why? The Mail and therefore yourself choose to imply that team spirit is bad at City, based purely on the fact that the manager and one player have a minor spat. Like I said, straw clutching of the highest order.

If you are unable to see that it is purely positioned thus in order to have a dig at City, then you're more disillusioned than I thought.

You're right though, I'm sure you find the fact that you're a red from London irrelevant, as you also seem to find it acceptable/witty to have a picture of a player assaulting a fan as your header.

  6. Of course the story is positioned to have a dig at City, hence why I said the timing of his comments was almost certainly a coincidence. But this sign of disharmony at the club in comparison to the harmony at United is surely evident. Do you disagree? Do you genuinely not care at all about the Balotelli/Mancini incident and think things are rosy? Because personally, if those pictures had been of Ferguson and Rooney I'd be really upset. Anyway, what's the big deal about all this anyway?? If, for example, United were 7 points behind City and Ferguson went on some press-conference rant about how City were nothing, United were the best, the press should all go and f##k themselves, then I'd expect a barrage of similar stories, about how Ferguson and United are cracking up. Or similarly if United were again behind City in the league, Van Persie was subbed off and had a blazing row with Feguson on the touchline - people are going to post provocative stories about 'the problems at United' or 'Van Persie is leaving'. So what? It's inevitable. These are just the obvious views and stories to come out of incidences like this.

But still not understanding the relevance of where I was brought up in relation to this news item? Ask any United fan in the world what they think of the 'minor spat' earlier in the week and they'll have the same view.
