VIEW: United vs Wigan. 4-0

5 things to take away from the Wigan victory...

1. Nani shits all over Bale and Nasri. Fact. 23 games, 9 goals and 14 assists, compared to 'undisputed players of the season' Nasri and Bale, with 21 games, 9 goals, 1 assist and 23 games, 7 goals and 1 assist respectively. Why is Nani still so unrated by many? And compared to the two darling's of North London barely even being mentioned as one of the top performers of the season? Absolutely ridiculous.

2. Rooney should be banned for life. Well that's what the Mail on Sunday would have you believe. A stupid elbow that probably did warrant a sending off, but is Rooney a sick disgusting villain who has gotten away with something that has NEVER happened to any other player before in the past? Hmm. Remember Michael Ball's stamp on Ronaldo's chest in 2007 that was pathetically applauded by many? Leg breaking tackles from Gerrard; dirty elbows from Masherano...and Gerrard again! Even f**king Paul Merson boasts about taking cocaine while playing for Arsenal (...while Ferdinand is banned for eight months for forgetting to take a drugs test) - all go unpunished. So why the witch-hunt against Rooney? Because he's a United player? Because it's 'Wayne Rooney' with a shady past? Because poor old hard done by Wigan have been robbed? Well fuck you pathetic tabloid fabricated bull shit. The double standards are becoming embarrassing.

3. I think I love Vidic more than I love my mum. I don't think any comment is needed there.

4. Will we struggle without Edwin the same way we did without Schemichs? Yesterday, the spritely 40 year old produced no less than three match saving saves (as well as playing Rooney on to assist Chico for the second), proving that it isn't always our accomplished defence who do all the work and in turn make the big man look good. In fact, we witnessed some truly awful defending from both sides yesterday, and where as United benefited from Wigan's lack of coherency at the back - especially for Hernandez's second and Rooney's goal - we were able to get away with sporadic and highly uncharacteristic moments of poor defending thanks to the awareness and quality of our man between the sticks. Retiring at the end of the season after six brilliant years with United, will we now suffer the same prolonged goalkeeping hangover we did after Schmeichel retired in 1999? I seriously hope not.

5. Bebe and Obertan should be held down by Giggsy and given a slap by Sir Bobby. The most dissapointing image of the day was the above shot to the bench, that saw young 'uns Bebe and Obertan completely disinterested in the match, ironically positioned amongst two of United's greatest ever players. After such a brilliant away win - exactly what we need ahead of our next two away visits - and after such an accomplished, match winning performance from hard-working United 'fan' Hernandez, it left an embarrassing feel to proceedings (although Obertan's £300 Beats by Dre headphones were pretty sick!). Grow up boys. That is all.
