VIEW: United vs Tottenham (a). 0-0
Let's not deny it: we had to fight for the point. We've had some truly glorious days/weekends this season where certain results have nicely gone our way. And after a Saturday where not a single result went in our favour - just to remind you, Citeh narrowly beat Wolves 4-3, Chelski narrowly beat Blackburn 2-0 and Arsenal...erm...narrowly beat West Ham 3-0 - we knew a win at the Lane was crucial. However after a sporadic periods in the middle of each half where Spurs were more than dangerous on the attack, especially considering later events regarding our diminished side, I think the draw was greatly appreciated. Don't you agree?
Tottenham are frightening offensively. And it wasn't just on the left. In fact, their best chance - and probably the game's best chance - fell to Crouch, who tried his hardest to not score, after some slick movement and a peach of a final ball from Hutton down the right. Sure, Bale caused Nani/Rafael/Rio a couple of problems (nothing they couldn't handle, mind) but Van der Vaart and Modric in the centre created their most threatening chances. They played well and at times, we had no answer.
Gun's don't kill people. Nemanja Vidic kills people. On a day when our defence had to be razor sharp, Vidic was as always an absolute rock. In the air and in for the kill, Nemanja was f**king brilliant and arguably secured us the point through a full 90 minutes 'how to' of masterful calm and collective defending.
Giggs. 600 League appearances and genuinely going stronger than ever. Yoga is SO underrated.
Rafael's sending off was a joke. Easily one of our best players on the day, as he was in the home leg, however his afternoon was cut unfairly short. But unlike the pathetic masses of ignorant, childish football fans who whine about United cheating and keeping ref's on their payroll, us United fans who possess dignity, pride, as well as a spot of f**king intelligence, understand the nature of football (swings and roundabouts and all that) and are able to just get on with it. We could have won had Assou-Ekotto not been a diving c*nt; we could have won had Raf picked the ball up on the half-way line, deep into injury time, skinning three Tottenham defenders on his way to nipping it into the path of Rooney, who proceeded to dink it over Gomes. But I'd rather not go there. Instead, I'll take it on the chin, accept the result and the tactics used by both sides that contributed to it, and move on. But what I won't accept is pathetic Tottenham fans who don't do the same. Time to grow-up.

I like your enthusiasm because I know you are a True Red that express's your thoughts with such passion!
ReplyDeleteCan I just reiterate and not being a "lickspittle"(United Rant and fitting) lol.
Nemanja was magnificent as was Rio.If only last season, dont look back in anger! But the same cunt Mike Dean done us at Old Trafford in conjuction with that blind twat Simon Beck.
We move on I guess Ma Old Cockney Sparra.Do we though?
To me Rafael was brilliant again today at the lane he was, the type of player that gets you off yer fucking arse and think he is gonna score for United.
It was a great read Ma Old Cocker.
Bring on the Brummies.
Keep it RED.
I've got to say, great reading your post-match commentary.
ReplyDeleteRafael was brilliant, though after the first yellow, it did look like a sending off was inevitable. The second was never a yellow, but still wasn't a surprise.
Rooney, unfortunately, seemed off the pace. At least his shots are on-target again, though they almost always straight at the keeper. Wonderful game for Vidic and Rio. Brilliant watching them put in performances this year, especially after last year's hiatus.
