VIEW: United vs Bolton (a). 2-2

Good.

Nani. 2 goals and 6 assists (including one of each yesterday).
The whipping boy this time last season has shockingly become our most pivotal and
creative player. Who would've thought.

Owen. It was three goals in two games for him last week...play
him and he will score. Simple as that.

Rooney's impact. Yes, he is a striker, and as a striker all we pretty much need him to do is score goals. Yet as we all know and love about the boy, Rooney's game is full of many more influential dimensions. Yesterday for example, he played a diagonal pass into the path of Berbs, beating the entire bemused Bolton defence in the process, that was so perfect, Berbatov thought the only thing he could do to complete a move created with such beauty  was to shoot and subsequently score a goal of equal treasure. But the daft bastard didn't take into account a couple of rather vital pointers. 1) The angle and distance on the shot was so impossible, not even 'super Berbatov who scores hattrick's against Liverpool' could have gotten near to scoring. And 2) a rather pissed off Giggs was completely open in the box. Still, the innovation of the pass has not been overlooked; as instead of going down as a chance squandered, it was the highlight of Rooney's vastly improving game that will undoubtedly start seeing him return to goalscoring form.

Bad.

The weak-link at the back…

Ive always been a strong advocate of young Jonny Evans,
often blinded by the ‘next
Rio’ tag. But unfortunately
his inexperience and rapidly escalating lack of confidence is prevailing. The finger
was pointed towards him after we dramatically failed to hold on to the 3-1 lead
at
Goodison Park
a few weeks ago, and for Knight’s opener yesterday, he was seen doing not alot more other than clinging on to the back of the 6’6” defender. Didn’t fancy getting goal-side of
him then Jonny, no? Yet if I’m having a go at Evans’ lack of presence that gave
Knight the space to nod in the opener, how about the man on the post? Evra’s
stupid drift inside the post proved completely detrimental. Had both boys stuck
to their jobs properly then that goal would never have happened, proving that
yet again – for the third time already this season (that's three away games on the
trot) – sloppiness was on hand to cost us the game.

Opportunity wasted.

Imagine if someone gave you a present. Make that two people
giving you two presents (spoilt bastard). But to fully get the best experience
you had to, I dunno, lets say download some extra software or summink. If you didn’t,
the presents would
still be alright,
but nowhere near as decent…get the point? We sure as hell didn’t utilise the gifts
that Citeh and West Brom gave us on Saturday by beating Chelsea and Arsenal
respectively. And so by not beating Bolton yesterday (i.e. the 'extra software' bit), those 'presents' were almost entirely wasted. Although Chelsea lost, you feel the opportunity to capitalise on them dropping points won't arise very often. So when it does, a win against a team we've beaten 12 times in the previous 14 games is a necessity.
