Is Neville's time finally up?
The Telegraph and The Daily Mail reveal the inevitable and arguably aptly-timed news of Gary Neville's reported retirement at the end of the season.
So I suppose it's time for me to jump on this bandwagon then.
Gary Neville? Should he stay or should he go?
Is it finally time for the red side of Liverpool's no.1 fan to graciously exit the scene? Personally, I feel the answer is nothing other than an astounding: 'Yes'.
But what do others believe? Debate time please...
He should stay. Definitely.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. He's been great servant to the club, United through and through as they say, but he's becoming a liability a club of this potential cannot afford.
ReplyDeleteHaha 'ScouseMouse'...is that the slightest whiff of sarcasm in the air?
ReplyDelete@Anon,
ReplyDeleteYeh exactly, especially with Rafa constantly learning and improving (especially with his attacking play) and the likes of Brown and O'Shea (although he looks like he's out for the long-term) easily able to step into the position.
He should leave, and that's that. Love the lad, and I really hope that he stays as a coach, because he's a great example who the youngsters can look up to, but on the field he's almost useless.
ReplyDeleteHe should go. Liability. No room for sentiment in the premier league.
ReplyDeleteI don't like the way you called him 'Rafa'. It's just wrong on so many levels. Well, just one really.
ReplyDeleteOh shit, sorry about that...didn't even realise!
ReplyDeleteI grew up watching him play and own that right flank. It's kinda sad to see how age had caught him.
ReplyDeleteProblem is his consistancy nowadays. One game he could roll back the years Giggsy style, another game he could be terrible. Goes for Scholes & Giggs aswell.
So question for Sir Alex is... can he afford to keep them for another year or two for those 5 or so games a year when they can deliver or let them go.
My thoughts are.. lower their salary and let them continue to be giants in the dressing room and role models for youngsters if they would want to play that role ofc.
I grew up watching him own right flank and his loooong throws into the box. He rocks my world mr. United he does!
ReplyDeleteBut question is can Sir Alex afford to keep him and Scholes (perhaps even Giggs) after so many years while their consistency is a serious problem. Sometimes they are still the greatest on the pitch but sometimes a really bad liability.
Worth keeping them for those 5 or so games a season when they can deliver?
My opinion is is yes they should stay with the club, lower their wages, cut down their play minutes and keep them as giants in the dressing room and role models for youngsters so they get some of their drive and mentality and loyalty.
If they'd settle for that ofc.
