Actions DO speak louder than words...

In a week where we saw a footballer and a musician fight it out for 'twat of the week', I can't help but think with a self-satisfied smile on my face how lucky we are to be clear of that sort of selfishness, arrogance and ego in our team (the worst we've got is a vexed Wazza after getting subbed off because he hadn't scored yet). Adebayor and Kanye West this week expressed themselves - one through actions, the other through words - in a way that embarassed not only themselves, but everyone involved, regardless of whether their ego's convinced them that they were doing the right thing. With Kanye, he approached the stage at Sunday night's VMA's in Manhattan thinking, no, knowing, that Beyonce deserved Taylor Swift's 'Best Female Video' - and to be fair, she probably did! Yet, as he was off his tits on brandy and juice, as well as the fact that he thinks the sun shines out of his arse, he had to let the world know; upsetting the young lass, Beyonce and his publicist in the process. After some good old campaigning to clear his name - via Jay Leno - he has regained a miniscule of the love and respect he lost that night; especially since Taylor was good enough to accept his soppy, and totally forced apology. Anyway, time will tell what affect this will have on Kanye, however I presume that, due to his status and power in the music world - which has, clearly, allowed him to do whatever the f*ck he wants - it means that, well, he will continue doing, and saying, whatever the f*ck he wants.

Now we get to the case of Emmanuel. What an utter knob. Firstly, the stamp on his ex-strike partner's face, then disrespecting his former fans who used to admire the oaf. Just as with Mr.West, everyone asked one question...why? He had had a top game against his old club, running rings against the entire Arsenal defence, especially in one particular glorious attack (that his game should have been remembered for), however instead of basking in his recent form to gain further adoration by all, he made a tit of himself and Hughes who has had to come out and defend his idiot of a player. To attack Van Persie as 'maliciously' as that is one thing - and he has been handed the appropriate 3-match ban for it - yet to do a Ussain Bolt and sprint the length of the pitch in about 4.2 seconds after scoring, just to get close to the opposing fans and show them 'what they're missing', is another matter entirely.

Kanye's was perhaps more shocking and unbelievable. An utterly out-of-the-blue incident that surely out-performed any his previous antics and résumé entitled 'How Kanye will unexpectedly stun the world'. However, Adebayor's action's last Saturday were more powerful and indecent; showing the footballing world that loyalty, sportsmanship and showing at least an ounce of respect to the fan's that allow you to play due to their (financial) support, is dead. So Rooney may have shown his badge up at the Everton fan's in the past? But is the effort and deliberate, calculated nature of Adebayor's reaction to scoring really on the same level as merely holding a cheeky badge up for a second or two? And yes, he has shown Arsenal fans what they are missing: a disloyal, disrespectful, arrogant prick who did'nt even know he was born before Arsene took hold of him and turned into something. And I don't just meen disrespectful to Arsenal; City fan's should also be pissed off at his pathetic on-pitch display (which one super intelligent City fan-site I read described as 'incredible' and that it has guarenteed him legendary status) has now cost him an appearance in at least the next three games; including City's cup final at Old Trafford tomorrow.

In other far more relevant and important news, we overcame our first European test since the debacle of May 26th 2009. Turkey is never an easy (or friendly) place to visit, with Foster describing the intimidating noise, and the consequent atmosphere as 'deafening'. Yet, we prevailed with the unimpressive yet adequate performance a team like Besiktas would allow from us; as they aint great, but defensively - including the awesome job performed by the '12th man' - they were able to hold us off till late on.
The visit of City should not really draw on anything from Tuesday night, as tactically we should be more attacking (...again, Rooney alone up-fron!?!!). PLUS their rather ironic striking injury list - seeing as they boasted strike-force of about 400 at the start of the season - has left them wafer thin with attacking options. No Ireland, Robinho, Santa Cruz, Benjani, Tevez (shame...) and, of course, Adebayor, should and will benefit us greatly; especially as we have conceded 3 goals in the 5 games so far, including only 1 at home. And Sparky has the audacity to come out today and say WE have become weeker?? Hmm. Enjoy Saturday Mark, and the rest of your season with your arrogant bunch. Let's see where your egotistic, condescending attitude - which is clearly a contractual signing-on trait for everyone coming to City nowadays - gets you come May.
