So they think the way to win the league is by copying United and selling one of your best players to Madrid..?

Well I wonder what all those cocky Kopites, rubbing there hands with delight and prematurely eyeing up a 1st title in 20 years after news broke of Ronaldo leaving, must be thinking now. Alonso to Madrid. Brilliant!...Not a good feeling to raped by Real, is it?

But no doubt, every Scouser - in denial that this is a bad move and not wanting to voice their concerns or panic over this exit - will be super-rapid to state the positives:
a) They've made a healthy profit on a player they bought for
£11million and got 5 seasons of good football out of,
b) He's 27. £30million is alot for a player that age.
c) ...nothing. There is NOTHING else good or beneficial to the team's 'oh so close' efforts last year. Benitez should be adding to their almost solid, fluid team. Because that was, and will STILL be the difference this season: they are merely a team who challenge. We are a
world-class squad who win.

Johnson at right-back - a great signing, who I've talked of before as a possible signing for us - was brought in as possibly one of only two positions that needed serious dealing with in order to stand a chance at league success (the other is obviously a cover/partner for Torres up-front). Now with their most creative, naturally gifted midfielder gone, they've regressed. And with time running out to bring in someone either equally as skilfull to instantly fill the void, or at least to splash most of the money on someone extra special (this being virtually impossible as, like we have found, noone of any stature is willing to move...unless it's to Madrid), things do not look great for our arrogant rivals. Also, as was brilliantly pointed out by republikofmancunia, Liverpool will have to rely on beating full-strength teams without the luxury of playing against 10 men...check this out:

On another note, VDS has fucked his hand up. Really annoying, but hopefully Foster can finally step in and show himself as a serious contender...until he breaks something after 4 appearances (OK, more like 3 appearances). 8 weeks without him should'nt be detremental, but I just pray Foster can stay fit. But if not, theres always Sheasy. And then Rio. And Rooney...don't think I'm missing anyone out, am I?

...fuck.
