moments...

Done and dusted with a game to go. THATS the united way. Here are my key moments in the league, the ones that made me (and everyone red) smile, cry and sigh in utter contentment at being the best. Again...

10 18th February. Fulham at home. 3-0
The result of this game-in-hand put us 5 points clear as ten days earlier we claimed top spot (and stayed there till the end of the season) with a 1-0 win at Upton Park; youngster Ryan Giggs showing that he can still anialate defences without the need of a Vieira assist. Not the most memorable game, but truly special for those who witnessed that other whipper-snapper Paul Scholes pass the ball like Jesus Christ. Also Berbatov scores the goal of the season.

9 11th January. Chelsea at home. 3-0
Our one and only win against the other 'top four', but this solid, comfortable and fairly flattering result (for Chelsea. It should have been 5) showed for the first time this season that we truly have what it takes to retain our title.

8 21st April. Liverpool vs Arsenal. 4-4
Liverpool drop points (finally!) to ease up the title run-in. The day after we efforlessly see off Portsmouth 2-0, making it 3 points ahead with a game in hand and only 5 games to go.

7 14th March/21st March.
Liverpool home/ Fulham away. 1-4/0-2
13th - we went into Saturday's game full of confidence, knowing a win would put us 10 points clear with a game in hand going into the last 2 months of the season. Then: Vidic sent off, lose 4-1. A week later: Scholes sent off, Rooney sent off, Lose 2-0.

21st - only 1 point ahead...a kick up the backside? You better believe it.

6 13th May. Wigan away. 2-1
Carrick's 86th minute winner secured a well-fought, suprisingly tense battle at the JJB and meant a draw in the last two games would see the league back at Old Trafford for the third year running.

5 The moment Ole, reserve team coach and the greatest off-the-bench-striker ever, recommended Sir Alex give a young Federico Macheda a spot on the bench.

4 25th April. Tottenham at home. Half-time/Tevez on in the second half.
Noone knows exactly what went on in that dressing room, but there is no doubt that the magic (i.e. bollocking) that was exerted onto the players did the trick (Nou Camp anyone...?). We took a dyer, deserved 2-0 deficit and turned it into our most fluid footballing display of the season (with a little help from Argentina); scoring 4 in 14 minutes. Final score: 5-2.

3 16th May. Arsenal at home. 0-0
Clincher. Finally time to relax and enjoy...until the 27th. To do it against Arsenal takes back a little bit of the dignity we lost in 2001 when they won it at OT, but really it was all about wrapping it up before Hull to ensure the freshest legs possible for Roma.

2 January 9th. Rafa's rant.
"Maybe they (United) are nervous because we are at the top of the table. But I want to talk about facts. I want to be clear, I do not want to play mind games too early". Alright Rafa you fat tart, here it is: 18, and that's a FACT!

1 5th April. Villa at home. 93rd minute...
As the Guardian so beautifully put it: "'This was the day an unknown 17-year-old kid, brought on as a hunch, took the game, the season and his entire life by the scruff of the neck and decided: this is mine".
